Hi everyone.
It's Arna from Fullarton Park Dental.
Today, I'll be sharing a bit of information with you about tooth decay.
Within the oral cavity there are over 700 species of oral bacteria.
Now some of these species when interacted with carbohydrates, form acid.
Now this acid is produced at the tooth's surface and it draws minerals out of the enamel.
Frequent exposure of acid attacks causes the enamel to eventually break down and this is how tooth decay is formed.
To prevent tooth decay we recommend to use a fluorinated toothpaste, to drink tap water and make sure you have plenty of water throughout the day.
Come for regular dental checkups and ensure you're brushing twice daily and flossing as well.
Thank you for listening.
Bye.
